Guardian K9 Rescue Unit has been a dream of ours for quite some time. After working with rescue groups in Southern California for about 2 years, I decided it was time we do it ourselves. After meeting Adam several years ago, this dream became his too. We sold almost everything in California and headed East! Dogs have always been a healing presence in my life. Dedicating my life to this cause was the best decision I’ve ever made. It isn’t an easy way of life, your heart breaks, you lay in bed crying, rain or shine – these dogs need us. As hard as it can be at times, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Our goal is to not only help these dogs, but to help our Veterans as well. So many young men and women come back from war damaged, physically and mentally. From personal experience, I can say that these dogs need us as much as we need them. It’s amazing what these animals are capable of. They are so sensitive to human emotion, they are just as dedicated to us as we are to them.
Feel like making a difference?
The majority of our dogs are housed on site in spacious indoor kennels. Each kennel has its own outdoor run. This not only relieves much of the stress of being indoors all day, but it also gives them a chance to soak in some sunshine and stretch their legs! Having many of our dogs on site, allows volunteers and staff to visit frequently and make sure that everybody gets equal attention and care.
With more than 2 acres of green pasture, there’s plenty of room to walk, run, or just find a shady spot to relax and enjoy the day! We’re always accepting new volunteers, so if you’d like to take a break from the hustle & bustle, grab a volunteer form below and come soak up the sun with our pups! You won’t regret it!
